Wow... I thought I was living a pretty healthy life until I read Thrive. I work out regularly and I don’t eat a lot of artificial or packaged foods. But Chayne has shown me how important taking care of both our mental and environmental health is as well, beyond just fitness & dieting which I was more focused on. The biggest takeaway for me is that we need to consider the “indirect health effects” of our consumer choices when trying to improve our health as well, like how our food choices affect our planet which then affect us, or how toxic chemicals from our clothes can pollute our water and then harm us.As a busy person and someone who is relatively new to "sustainable living," this book has been the perfect straightforward, fluff-free guide to help me get started and become more conscious in all aspects of my life. With the way the book is sectioned off topic by topic, I liked how I could easily skip the parts I felt I already knew and dive right into other sections. If you’re thinking about getting this book, my suggestion from reading other reviews would be this: If you’re already an environmental or health expert and are looking for more than a fun/leisurely read, you might be disappointed. But if you want a well-rounded intro to sustainable living, want to take health more seriously and approach it in a more wholesome way, or just want a feel good read, I think you’d find it really valuable like I did.

The book is fairly interesting, but I didn't find any of the insights in it particularly eye-opening--perhaps because I already consider myself an environmentalist and try to apply that to every aspect of my life. My main problem with this book is that it is all for environmental consciousness when buying clothing, body products, etc, but says NOTHING about the environmental impacts of animal agriculture. I don't understand how a book can claim to be a guide to an environmentally conscious lifestyle without so much as mentioning animal agriculture's devastating effects on the environment.

I love this book! Kaméa is such a wealth of knowledge and she puts forth practical steps that every person -- no matter where you are in your wellness / conscious living journey -- can realistically take and implement. What I love most about Kaméa's approach is that everything is connected: the way we treat ourselves reflects the way we impact the earth, the way our decisions affect others, etc. When we take care of ourselves, we take care of the world, and visa versa. I highly recommend this book, whether you are just exploring the idea of conscious living for the first time or have been a wellness warrior for years now. :)
